Skier dies in backcountry avalanche near Golden, BC
A tragic incident occurred as a backcountry skier lost their life in an avalanche near Golden, B.C.
The RCMP received reports of two missing men at 10 p.m. on Monday, who had not been in contact since 5:30 p.m.
One of the men managed to return home, while efforts to revive the other proved unsuccessful, and he passed away from his injuries.
Search and rescue teams, with the assistance of a helicopter, recovered the body of a 42-year-old man from Golden, B.C.
Avalanche Canada revealed that the duo triggered a wind slab avalanche at the slope’s peak, which descended almost a kilometer through a gully.
The victim was discovered close to the base of the slide, buried over a meter deep in snow.
