South Korea’s President Imposes Martial Law
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol made a late-night address on South Korea’s YTN news channel on Dec. 3, declaring martial law. Yoon, a member of the People Power party, stated that martial law was necessary because his political opponents, who control the national assembly, were obstructing government work. He also accused them of sympathizing with North Korea.
