Spanish Politician Alleges Iranian Regime’s Collaboration with Organized Crime
A Spanish politician and campaigner against the Iranian regime, Alejo Vidal-Quadras, survived an assassination attempt a year ago and revealed that Tehran hired hitmen from a Netherlands-based mafia group.
Speaking at an online conference, Vidal-Quadras, 79, who was shot in Madrid on Nov. 9, 2023, pointed out that Iran is collaborating with organized crime outfits in targeting dissidents and European individuals.
He mentioned the alliance between the Iranian regime and the Netherlands-based Mocro Maffia gang, along with other criminal syndicates, in carrying out these attacks.
The ISJ collaborates closely with the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), an umbrella organization encompassing key Iranian opposition groups.
Advocating for a more robust policy against the Iranian regime, Vidal-Quadras urged the EU and Britain to designate and enforce international sanctions on entities like the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), for a stable and democratic Iran.
Matthew Levitt, Director of the Reinhard Program on Counterterrorism and Intelligence at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, echoed concerns about Iran’s international terrorism activities targeting critics and the need for a stronger approach to counter these threats.
Bob Blackman, a Conservative MP, criticized Belgium’s decision to release and repatriate Assadollah Assadi, an Iranian diplomat linked to a 2018 bombing attempt on an NCRI meeting, raising alarms about the potential consequences of such actions.
