St Kitts, a Caribbean Nation, Launches Investigation After 19 Bodies Discovered on Drifting Vessel
Authorities in St. Kitts and Nevis in the eastern Caribbean are currently investigating the discovery of at least 19 bodies found drifting at sea. The St. Kitts and Nevis Coast Guard responded to a report of a drifting vessel off the coast of Nevis on Wednesday, where they found a partially submerged boat containing decomposed human remains. The boat was towed to St. Kitts for further investigation by police and medical officials.
Police Commissioner James Sutton mentioned that the vessel, believed to have originated off the West African coast, is not commonly seen in the Caribbean. The officials are facing the challenge of determining the exact number of bodies and identifying them due to the significant state of decomposition.
This incident marks the first discovery of this nature in recent memory in St. Kitts and Nevis.
