Study Finds That Virtual Parties Did Not Alleviate Feelings of Loneliness




For many people, the idea of participating in Zoom quizzes, dancing alone in the kitchen at online parties, or celebrating birthdays with family members over a screen brings back memories of the difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the peak of the pandemic, when the world was shutting down and social individuals were missing their friends, they turned to the internet to find entertainment and connections, giving rise to a whole new generation of virtual entertainment.
This included more than just playing bingo. There were virtual raves and dance parties, online happy hours with cocktails delivered to people’s homes, remote potluck dinner parties, speed dating events, and even virtual weddings.
