Summer McIntosh of Canada Claims Gold in Women’s 200m Butterfly at Paris Olympics



Summer McIntosh secured her second gold medal at the Paris Olympics on Thursday after triumphing in the women’s 200 metres butterfly final.

The 17-year-old finished with an Olympic record time of 2:03.03 at La Defense Arena, clinching victory by 0.81 seconds ahead of American silver medalist Regan Smith.

China’s Zhang Yufei claimed the bronze medal.

McIntosh now has three medals at the Paris Games, having already won gold in the 400 metres individual medley on day three and a silver in the 400m freestyle on day one.

This victory in the butterfly event also earned McIntosh the distinction of being the first Canadian swimmer to win multiple Olympic gold medals.
