Targeting Tesla in a Tariff Fight is Canada’s Aim, says Chrystia Freeland

Chrystia Freeland, a Liberal leadership hopeful, suggests that Canada should aim at targeting Teslas and U.S. alcohol if U.S. President Donald Trump follows through on his trade threats.

During an interview with The Canadian Press, Freeland proposes a 100 percent tariff on all U.S. wine, beer, spirits, and Teslas, ensuring that Wisconsin dairy farmers also feel the impact.

This action would specifically affect Tesla CEO Elon Musk and other influential political figures and lobby groups.

Freeland emphasizes the need for Canada to send a message to Trump’s closest supporters that any attack on Canada will be met with a retaliatory response that will cause damage.

Tesla’s CFO has cautioned that tariffs could negatively affect the company’s profitability.

Despite Trump’s indication that he intends to impose 25 percent tariffs on Canada and Mexico, Freeland remains steadfast in her approach.
