Teenager in Deutschland Festgenommen Verdächtigt, Anschlag zu planen
Authorities in Germany announced on Wednesday that they have detained two teenagers, one in North Rhine-Westphalia and one in Brandenburg, on suspicion of planning and preparing an attack on a Christmas market.
Interior Minister Herbert Reul of North Rhine-Westphalia stated that the two teenagers, aged 15 and 16, were arrested on suspicion of planning an attack on a Christmas market, without specifying which market was involved.
In a statement, Brandenburg Interior Minister Michael Stuebgen said, “The Brandenburg police arrested a Russian youth who is suspected of having prepared an attack.”
A source familiar with the situation, who chose to remain anonymous, revealed that the 16-year-old is a Russian citizen from Chechnya.
