Tenerife search for missing teen Jay Slater officially cancelled
Spanish police have stopped searching for a 19-year-old British tourist who went missing while vacationing on the island of Tenerife last month.
Authorities in Tenerife have called off the search for the British tourist, Jay Slater, who disappeared after leaving Rural de Teno Park on June 17.
Originally from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, Mr. Slater was last seen after attending the NRG music festival in Playa de las Americas with friends and then traveling to an Airbnb apartment in the village of Masca with two British men he met at the festival.
He posted an image on Snapchat at 7:30 a.m. while in Rural de Teno national park.
After calling a friend, Lucy Law, at 8 a.m. to say he was lost in the mountains and needed help urgently, his phone battery died at around 8:50 a.m., and he has not been seen since.

The Guardia Civil, a Spanish police force, used helicopters, drones, and search dogs in the search for Mr. Slater, but the operation has now concluded.
Despite this, some of Mr. Slater’s relatives and friends remain in Tenerife to continue the search.
Mr. Slater’s mother, Debbie Duncan, mentioned that the funds raised online will go towards supporting mountain rescue teams and covering her own expenses for accommodation and food.
This was Mr. Slater’s first solo holiday without his parents, and Tenerife attracts thousands of British tourists annually due to its sandy beaches and vibrant nightlife.
The island, located 100 miles off the coast of Morocco, has three dormant volcanoes and experiences hot temperatures in June, posing risks of sunstroke and dehydration in certain areas.
