Tesla to increase prices for vehicles in Canada by up to $9,000 effective Feb. 1

Tesla Inc. has announced that it will increase prices by up to $9,000 on its Model 3 vehicle, which is the most affordable in its lineup, starting on Feb. 1.

Additionally, the company will also raise prices on the Model Y, X, and S by $4,000 at the same time.

While Tesla did not provide a specific reason for the price hike, it coincides with U.S. President Donald Trump’s mention of a potential imposition of widespread tariffs on Canada.

This increase follows a previous price raise of $1,000 in January, which made the Model 3 and Model Y ineligible for federal electric vehicle incentives.

Earlier, Transport Canada had announced that the funding for the incentive program had been fully allocated, leading to a suspension of new rebate approvals indefinitely.

Tesla vehicles imported from China had already lost eligibility for incentives in October, along with imports from countries without a free trade agreement with Canada.
