The Population of Canada Reaches 41 Million in First Quarter of 2024: StatCan


Statistics Canada reports that the population of the country has exceeded 41 million people in the first quarter of this year, with a growth rate of 0.6 percent.

As of April 1, the population stood at 41,012,563, showing an increase of 242,673 individuals in the first three months of the year.

The data released by the agency indicates that 121,758 immigrants were welcomed in the first quarter, while there was a net emigration of 12,613 people during the same period.

Additionally, Canada saw an increase of 131,810 non-permanent residents in its population.

Statistics Canada highlighted that most of the growth in temporary immigration occurred before the announcement of restrictions on permits issued to non-permanent residents in 2024.
