Three Stunning Lakes in Canada Recognized as Some of the Most Beautiful in the World

Canada is home to three of the most beautiful lakes in the world, as officially recognized.

Condé Nast Traveler magazine curated a list of the top 48 stunning lakes globally, with Canada making an appearance three times.

The lakes that made the list are Moraine Lake in Alberta, Winnipeg Lake in Manitoba, and Lake Superior, which borders Ontario and the United States.

Moraine Lake

Alberta’s Banff National Park is known for its beautiful lakes, with Moraine Lake standing out for its strikingly blue waters, according to the luxury travel magazine.

Located in the western part of the park, Moraine Lake owes its unique color to mineral-rich runoff from surrounding glaciers. The lake offers views of the Valley of the Ten Peaks—a row of mountains seen in the distance.

Parks Canada describes Moraine Lake as one of the most visited destinations in the country, known not only for its beauty but also for wildlife, hiking, biking trails, and winter sports activities.

Lake Superior

Lake Superior, the largest freshwater lake globally, borders Ontario, as well as several U.S. states.

Lake Winnipeg

Located in Manitoba’s boreal forests, Lake Winnipeg offers pristine beaches ideal for various watersports just outside Winnipeg.

Its over a thousand miles of shores provide a peaceful retreat for visitors, while also being culturally significant for indigenous communities along its shoreline.

Home to several provincial parks, Lake Winnipeg is known for swimming, fishing, boating, hiking trails, and wildlife watching opportunities in the surrounding forests.
