Top Cybersecurity Official to Testify at Investigation into Election Interference Today
Caroline Xavier, the chief of Canada’s cyberspy agency, is expected to testify at a federal inquiry into foreign interference today.
Xavier took up her position in 2022 to head the Communications Security Establishment, which plays a crucial role in defending Canada against online threats.
Senior officials from the CSE, as well as representatives from the Privy Council Office and the Justice Department, are also set to give testimony.
The ongoing hearings of the commission of inquiry are focused on the capacity of federal agencies to detect and combat foreign interference.
The commission is analyzing the protocols of different organizations and the perspectives of diaspora communities.
The final report of the inquiry is expected by the end of the year.
