Toronto Police Arrest Woman for Allegedly Threatening and Harassing Falun Gong Practitioner

Toronto police have apprehended a woman for allegedly assaulting a volunteer who was raising awareness about the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese regime. Zhou Chuanyin, an activist who regularly distributes flyers at the CN Tower to shed light on Beijing’s violent oppression of the spiritual group, reported that a young woman approached her on August 20th and demanded personal information. When Zhou asked for work identification, the woman engaged in acts of vandalism, including seizing Zhou’s flyers and scattering them on the ground. Zhou attempted to take photos of the woman’s actions, and the woman retaliated by taking photos of Zhou. The police were called to the scene, but Zhou claimed that the woman falsely accused her of robbery. Despite warnings from the police, the woman continued to verbally assault Zhou and the officers, even threatening to report the police for “improper law enforcement.” The police eventually arrested the woman near Spadina Ave. and Bremner Blvd.
