Toronto Police Searching for Suspect in Another TTC Stabbing

On April 11, a man travelling on a Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) bus was approached by another man and stabbed, the latest of many incidents of TTC violence.

The wound was not fatal and the victim is still in hospital, Toronto Police Service media relations officer Shannon Eames told The Epoch Times via email. She said it’s unknown whether the victim and suspect knew each other. “That is still being investigated at this time.”

The bus was heading westbound on Eglinton Avenue and the suspect exited the bus at Black Creek Drive and Eglinton Avenue West. The attack occurred at about 11:30 p.m. Police released images of the suspect on April 13, hoping for the public’s help identifying him.

The suspect is described as about six feet tall, 18–20 years old. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black jeans.

Midday Sexual Assault on TTC

On April 11, Toronto police released the images of another man wanted for a sexual assault on a TTC bus that happened on the afternoon of April 5. A 17-year-old woman was assaulted on an eastbound TTC bus she boarded in the Pharmacy Avenue/Lawrence Avenue East area. The man exited in the Markham Road/Lawrence Avenue East area.

He is described as 5’11” and he was wearing a blue surgical mask, black jacket, grey sweater, Nike running shoes, and was carrying a black Under Armour backpack.

Trend of Violence

A TTC report released in February showed 1,068 violent incidents in 2022, with 245 in November and December alone. That’s up 46 percent from the previous year.

On March 25, 16-year-old Gabriel Magalhaes was fatally stabbed at the Keele Street subway station. Toronto Police say the attack was unprovoked.

Jordan O’Brien-Tobin, 22, has been charged with first degree murder for the stabbing.
