Trial for Murder Conspiracy Reveals Edmonton Officers Attended Coutts Blockade in Support

An undercover RCMP officer has testified in court that two Edmonton police officers were present to support the 2022 border blockade at Coutts, Alta.

According to the Mountie, one of the Edmonton officers attended the blockade with his wife, who was a nurse, and they received a warm welcome from people eager to shake their hands.

The undercover officer, who remains anonymous, is giving testimony in the trial of Anthony Olienick and Chris Carbert.

These individuals were charged with conspiring to commit murder at the blockade after law enforcement discovered a collection of guns, body armor, and ammunition in trailers in the vicinity.

The blockade caused significant disruption at the busy Canada-U.S. border crossing for a period of two weeks and was part of a series of protests across the country against COVID-19 regulations and vaccine mandates.

Mr. Olienick and Mr. Carbert are also facing charges of mischief and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Additionally, Mr. Olienick is accused of possessing a pipe bomb.
