Trudeau declares Liberal Party is ‘Unified and Strong’ following caucus meeting

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was seen smiling after he emerged from a weekly caucus meeting where some MPs had reportedly planned to challenge his leadership.

Trudeau reassured that the Liberal party remains “strong and united” following the three-hour meeting on Parliament Hill.

While Liberal MPs remained tight-lipped about the specifics of the meeting, those who did speak with reporters on their way out also emphasized the unity within the party.

Speculation had been circulating for weeks about a group of Liberal MPs attempting to remove the prime minister in hopes of improving the party’s chances in the next election, but Trudeau has shown no intention of stepping down.

Ontario MP Charles Sousa stated that the party is committed to staying united to prevent Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre from winning the upcoming election.
