Trudeau Vows to Stay Prime Minister Despite Revolt from Caucus

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau asserts that he will not be resigning as the leader of the Liberal party by next week.

During a tense caucus meeting in Ottawa on Wednesday, a letter signed by two dozen Liberal MPs was presented to Trudeau, urging him to step down.

The letter requested that he inform the caucus of his decision by Oct. 28.

Trudeau informed MPs that he would contemplate the situation, but when questioned today if he would remain as prime minister after the specified date, he responded with a firm “yes.”

Trudeau’s leadership is under scrutiny as the party lags behind the Conservatives in various polls and his popularity has significantly declined over the past two years.

Today, he took action to address a major concern among voters by reducing the number of new permanent residents admitted to the country by over 100,000 people annually, starting in 2025.
