Trump appoints Charles Kushner, father of Jared Kushner, as US Ambassador to France

Trump emphasized Charles Kushner’s business expertise and potential as a diplomat.

President-elect Donald Trump has selected Charles Kushner, a well-known real estate developer and father of Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, to be the next U.S. ambassador to France.

In a Nov. 30 post on Truth Social, Trump praised Kushner for being “a remarkable business leader, philanthropist, & negotiator, who will strongly represent our country & its interests.”

Kushner, the founder and chairman of Kushner Companies, has been widely recognized for his significant role in the real estate industry. Under his guidance, the company expanded into one of the largest privately-held real estate enterprises in the nation, overseeing a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, and retail properties.

When announcing the nomination, Trump also highlighted Kushner’s charitable activities and public service track record. Over the years, Kushner has served on the boards of various esteemed organizations, such as New York University, and was appointed to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council. He has also held prominent positions as a commissioner and chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Jared Kushner, Charles Kushner’s eldest son, played a crucial role in the initial Trump administration. Jared Kushner is married to Trump’s daughter, Ivanka.

He served as a senior adviser, overseeing some of the administration’s most ambitious projects. His contributions varied from spearheading the rapid development and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines under Operation Warp Speed to facilitating peace agreements between Israel and Arab nations through the Abraham Accords.

“Congratulations to Charlie, his wonderful wife Seryl, their 4 children, & 14 grandchildren,” Trump added. “His son, Jared, worked closely with me in the White House, especially on Operation Warp Speed, Criminal Justice Reform, & the Abraham Accords. Together, we will enhance America’s relationship with France, our oldest ally, & one of our greatest!”

Trump’s nomination of Charles Kushner demonstrates his belief in Kushner’s capacity to nurture diplomatic relations between the United States and France.

France plays a crucial role in global diplomacy, particularly in Europe, which is currently dealing with the Ukraine crisis. Trump has pledged to swiftly end the conflict by utilizing his connections with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to push for a peace agreement between the two conflicting parties.

France has been actively involved in diplomatic efforts related to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, leveraging its influence within the European Union and its position on the United Nations Security Council to advocate for negotiations and conflict resolution.
