An extremism tsar within the government labeled Palestine Action as an “extreme protest group” after they vandalized over 15 branches of Barclays Bank across England and Scotland.
Palestine Action (PA) is focused on shutting down an Israeli arms manufacturer in the UK through vandalism and claimed to have targeted 20 Barclays bank sites, with 15 sites being vandalized as of Monday.
Lord Walney
Lord Walney criticized Palestine Action for targeting multiple branches of Barclays Bank and highlighted the need for measures to restrict fundraising and communication by groups using criminal tactics for influence.
Co-founded by Huda Ammori and Richard Barnard, the group aims to dismantle British complicity with Israeli apartheid through direct action.
They encouraged scouting Ministry of Defence and Elbit Systems sites for future actions.
PA also utilizes funding tools like the U.S.-based Action Network for their activities.
Barclays responded by emphasizing their support for the defense sector and the UK government’s stance on defense companies, while urging protesters to demonstrate respect for customers, colleagues, and property.
