Unanswered: Future of Controversial Green Fund Up in the Air as Federal Officials Remain Silent
The industry minister has announced that federal green fund programs are being relocated to a government agency following the release of an auditor general report. However, the department has not confirmed whether the fund will be dissolved.
The minister announced that SDTC programs are being transferred to the National Research Council (NRC), an agency specializing in science and technology research under his department.
Mr. Champagne mentioned that SDTC’s funding of projects is resuming under a “reinforced” contribution agreement with his department. SDTC employees will have the opportunity to become federal public servants and work at the NRC.
When asked multiple times whether this means SDTC will be dissolved and within what timeframe, ISED did not provide a clear answer.
“It is expected that the transition of SDTC to the NRC will span several months,” spokesperson Hans Parmar informed The Epoch Times in a statement.
The arms-length foundation’s mission is to fund companies involved in the clean tech sector.
