University of Sydney Stabbing Leads to Teenager’s Arrest
A NSW Police spokesperson confirmed that both individuals involved in the incident are not believed to have any prior connection, and reassured that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
Authorities arrested a 14-year-old boy after a stabbing at the University of Sydney.
Upon receiving reports of the stabbing, police cars and emergency services quickly responded to the university’s Camperdown campus around 8:45 a.m. on July 2.
Officers from the Inner West Police Area Command secured the area as some university buildings went into lockdown.
NSW Ambulance paramedics provided medical assistance to a 22-year-old man at the scene before he was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Following the incident, it was reported that the 14-year-old suspect boarded a bus on Parramatta Road. He is currently in custody and cooperating with the investigation.
A NSW Police spokesperson highlighted that there is no known connection between the individuals involved and no ongoing risk to the community.
The University of Sydney issued a statement confirming the incident and implemented security measures for several buildings.
According to a university spokesperson, a police operation is ongoing at the Camperdown campus, leading to heightened security measures and police presence in certain areas.
The university emphasized its collaboration with law enforcement to ensure the safety of students, staff, and the community.
