US Embassy Urges American Citizens in Lebanon to Depart on ‘Any Available Ticket’
The US Embassy cautioned those planning to leave Lebanon to secure any available ticket for departure.
Several countries, including the United States, France, and the United Kingdom, advised their citizens to evacuate Lebanon promptly due to escalating regional tensions following recent strikes in Beirut and Israel.
“We encourage those who wish to depart Lebanon to book any ticket available to them, even if that flight does not depart immediately or does not follow their first-choice route. U.S. citizens who lack funds to return to the United States may contact the embassy for financial assistance via repatriation loans,” said the U.S. Embassy in Beirut on Saturday, noting that some commercial airlines have canceled flights recently.
The embassy reiterated on Saturday that commercial transport options are still available for leaving Lebanon.
Lammy called for de-escalation and a diplomatic solution, highlighting that further conflict escalation would be detrimental to all parties involved.
Recent events include Israeli officials blaming Hezbollah for an attack in the Golan Heights, followed by Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon and retaliatory actions, sparking concerns about escalating conflicts in the Middle East.
Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah’s statements further heightened tensions, leading to military actions and casualties on both sides.
Global responses to the situation include the U.S. deploying more military forces in the Middle East to ensure defense and deterrence.
