US General Currently Dismisses Idea of Sending Military Trainers to Ukraine
According to Estonia’s prime minister, some of Kyiv’s Western allies are already providing military training in Ukraine.
General Charles Brown, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, stated that the United States currently has no plans to deploy military trainers to Ukraine.
He mentioned that around 150 U.S. military trainers were previously stationed in Ukraine before Russia’s invasion in 2022.
Mr. Brown made these comments during a press briefing alongside U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, emphasizing the importance of continuing U.S. support for Kyiv despite recent Russian advances.
While Gen. Brown hinted at the potential deployment of NATO military trainers to Ukraine in the future, he cautioned that such a move could present risks at this point in time.
French President Emanuel Macron has advocated for sending Western troops to Ukraine, a sentiment shared by Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis.
However, the White House has maintained a stance against sending troops to Ukraine, urging NATO allies to do the same.
Amid ongoing discussions, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas mentioned that some Western allies of Kyiv are already involved in training soldiers in Ukraine.
