US Military Plane Crashes in Eastern Mediterranean Sea
WASHINGTON—A U.S. military aircraft has crashed in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, according to U.S. European Command on Saturday.
The command stated that the aircraft crashed during training operations and that the cause is currently under investigation. However, there are no signs of any hostile activity involved.
Out of respect for the affected families, the command has chosen not to release any further information about the personnel involved.
The specific military service to which the aircraft belonged was not immediately clear. The Air Force has deployed additional squadrons to the region, and the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier, which carries a variety of aircraft, has also been operating in the eastern Mediterranean.
