Video Released by Police Showing Severe Crash After Rock Thrown in Markham, Suspects Sought
Ontario Provincial Police has released a video of a collision in Markham that resulted in two individuals sustaining life-threatening injuries. The police are trying to identify the suspects who deliberately threw rocks at the vehicle.

shows dashcam footage from Sept. 20 of a vehicle in Markham running a red light and colliding with another vehicle. The police disclosed that the crash occurred after the driver was struck with a rock, rendering them unconscious and losing control of the vehicle.
The collision at 8:45 p.m. led to two individuals sustaining life-threatening injuries. One of the victims has been discharged from the hospital, while the other is still receiving treatment.

. Ontario Provincial Police investigators are probing 11 incidents along Highway 48, while the remaining nine are under investigation by the York Regional Police.

“It’s shocking that such dangerous acts are occurring in our community. We’re determined to put a stop to it and to relentlessly pursue whoever is responsible. We want to ensure that no other family member or loved one has to endure such a traumatic experience.”
The incident in September isn’t the first where a driver was hit by a rock. According to York police, a driver had a rock thrown at their windshield, causing injury to the driver’s face at 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 19.

Half an hour earlier, another driver was targeted by a large rock thrown at their moving vehicle. The driver reported that the rock came from a vehicle moving in the opposite direction.
Based on multiple reports, the OPP suspects that a SUV and its occupants may be involved in the rock-throwing incidents. As of now, no descriptions of the occupants have been provided.
The OPP is urging anyone who can identify the vehicle or its passengers to reach out to investigators.
