What Was the Green Leader Thinking: MPs Urged to be More Inquisitive
Green Party Leader Elizabeth May believes that MPs mentioned in a confidential parliamentary report on foreign interference should have been more cautious when accepting assistance from external sources in their nomination races.
Ms. May maintains that the MPs implicated in the report did not intentionally engage in foreign interference with malicious or treasonous intentions.
However, she suggests that their actions could be described as “naive, unethical, or reckless.”
The identities of these MPs remain undisclosed even two weeks after the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians published a heavily redacted report containing information from numerous intelligence documents regarding foreign interference.
The commission investigating allegations of foreign interference in the last two federal elections has announced its plans to review the same documents.
Last week, the House of Commons passed a Bloc Québécois motion urging commissioner Marie-Josée Hogue to look into the recent disclosures.
