Why Hamas Supporters Disrupt Our Lives and Spread Hate: Philip Carl Salzman Discusses the Root of the Problem

Commentary

Amidst the chaos of mobs running rampant through American and Canadian streets in support of Hamas and its anti-Semitic actions, many citizens and political figures are left surprised and dismayed.

Some North American supporters of Hamas have resorted to violent acts, tearing down posters of Jewish hostages held by Hamas and condoning the brutal murder of Israeli Jews and foreigners. These violent acts are fueled by a desire to rid Palestine of Jews, chanting slogans to wipe out Israel and its people.

The justification for this anti-Semitism varies between North Americans and Middle Easterners. For Middle Easterners, the conflict is seen as a religious war to establish Islamic dominance. On the other hand, North Americans view the situation through a lens of oppressors and victims, aligning the Palestinian cause as victims of Israeli oppression based on flawed racial assumptions.

The conflict in the Middle East has become a platform for far-left groups in North America to express their hatred towards what they perceive as oppressors. This stems from a progressive ideology ingrained in the education system, media, and government, dividing society into oppressors and victims based on race, gender, and sexual orientation.

Progressive narratives, including DEI policies, seek to eliminate merit-based success and discriminate against certain groups based on race and gender. These policies have infiltrated various sectors of society, promoting bias against whites, males, and heterosexuals.

The pro-Hamas mobs have propagated unfounded accusations of genocide and apartheid against Israel, rooted in ignorance and anti-Semitic ideals. Their actions align with the progressive model of demonizing certain groups and instigating hate based on flawed narratives.

The progressive agenda seeks to vilify and ostracize certain demographics, leading to discrimination and bias. However, public opinion shows a clear resistance to these extreme views, indicating a potential shift away from these ideologies in the near future.

It is concerning to see political leaders endorsing hate and discrimination, showcasing the need for a reevaluation of current societal values and norms.
