Workers complete installation of sprinklers on remaining Jasper buildings ahead of upcoming heat wave.

A wildfire is raging through Jasper National Park and crews are working to reduce its spread.

Parks Canada has installed sprinklers on some buildings north of the townsite as they anticipate increased fire activity.

Power has been restored in the downtown area and crews are cleaning up debris.

Highway 16 is now open to trucks, tractors, and trailers during specific hours of the day.

Last week, thousands of people evacuated the town and park due to the fire, which later spread into the community and destroyed one-third of its buildings.

Parks Canada is also finalizing a damage assessment map which will be released soon.
