Zelenskyy Suggests Ukraine War Will End Sooner Under Trump’s Leadership
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the war with Russia will eventually come to an end, but there is no specific date set for this.
Zelenskyy stated that the recent win of President-elect Donald Trump has influenced the timeline, as Trump and his running-mate, Sen. JD Vance, have promised to resolve the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. They believe that the United States has been providing excessive funding to Ukraine and have expressed concerns about the possibility of nuclear war amidst the ongoing conflict.
Zelenskyy mentioned that his optimistic outlook is based on discussions he has had with Trump. When asked about the potential for Ukraine to negotiate with Russia, Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is an independent country and does not subscribe to the approach of simply sitting down and listening.
Additionally, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov highlighted that Ukraine is committed to reclaiming all territories that have been captured by Russia, including the Donbas territories and Crimea. He stressed that territorial integrity is a fundamental value for Ukraine.
Scholz demanded the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine and reiterated Germany’s unwavering support for the country. Meanwhile, the Kremlin stated that Russia remains open to resuming negotiations with Ukraine in order to achieve peace.
Berlin, a major financial supporter of Ukraine and a significant weapons provider, currently faces uncertainty regarding its future support following Trump’s victory in the U.S. presidential election.
