Rep. Cline Tells Newsmax: The Primary Focus is the Alleged Bribery Involving Hunter Biden

Republican Congressman Ben Cline has stated that there are concerns among his colleagues regarding more serious allegations against Hunter Biden than the current tax fraud and gun cases. Cline, a member of the House Judiciary Committee, said that the committee’s primary focus is on “additional potential violations of the law” related to an FD-1023 informant file and other evidence. He specifically mentioned bribery as a potential violation in relation to Hunter Biden’s interaction with his father, President Joe Biden. Cline also criticized the Department of Justice for the slow response to a House request for the district attorney overseeing Hunter Biden’s case to provide congressional testimony. The House wants U.S. Attorney David C. Weiss of Delaware to explain why he agreed to a controversial plea deal with Hunter Biden that would have allowed him to avoid prison time. The deal has been temporarily put on hold due to concerns over its constitutionality and the scope of immunity offered to Hunter Biden in future cases. Cline expressed frustration that the Department of Justice waited until just before the August recess to respond to the letter, suggesting that they knew the timing and schedule of Congress.
