Senate Judiciary GOP Members Seek Testimony from Garland and Weiss

Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee, led by Sen. Lindsey Graham, have sent a letter to Chairman Dick Durbin, asking him to call Attorney General Merrick Garland and U.S. Attorney David Weiss to testify regarding the investigation of Hunter Biden. The letter states that there are discrepancies in the statements made by Garland and Weiss regarding Weiss’s authority to charge in districts outside of Delaware. The committee’s Republicans are also questioning Weiss’s response to a letter from Graham, which raised more questions than answers about his authority over the Hunter Biden investigation. Graham had asked for clarification regarding testimony from IRS whistleblowers who alleged that the IRS, FBI, and DOJ hindered the investigation into Hunter Biden. The letter also seeks information about an FD-1023 document alleging a bribery scheme involving President Joe Biden and his son. The Republicans argue that Weiss’s comments do not align with the whistleblower testimony. They state that the American people deserve transparency and that it is their responsibility to uncover the truth.
