Florida’s Chinese Property Law Remains Unobstructed by Federal Judge
A federal judge has rejected a preliminary injunction on a new Florida law that bars some Chinese citizens from buying and owning land in the state. The judge stated that the plaintiffs were unable to demonstrate they could win the case, and that the law did not intentionally discriminate against Chinese immigrants. The law, supported by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, imposes restrictions on property ownership for individuals from China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, and Venezuela, near military bases, critical infrastructure, and agricultural land. Plaintiffs have argued that the law unfairly targets immigrants and have expressed concerns about its impact on their lives.
