Missouri Bill Makes it a Felony to Promote Transgender Agenda in Schools

Teachers and school counselors in Missouri may face felony charges and be required to register as sex offenders if caught assisting children with social transitioning, as reported by KY3.

House Bill 2885, known as H.B. 2885, outlines that providing support material, information, or resources related to child social transition constitutes an offense for teachers and counselors.

If passed, the bill would make this offense a class E felony, defining social transition as the process of a person adopting the name, pronouns, and gender expression of the opposite sex, including clothing or hairstyles.

Representative Jamie Gragg, R-Ozark, who introduced the bill, stated that it aims to support parents and families and empower teachers to focus on education rather than pushing a transgender agenda onto students.

Under the bill, teachers found aiding a child’s social transition would have to register as tier 3 sex offenders, with three tiers ranging from low to high-level offenses.

Aaron Schekorra, executive director of the GLO Center in Springfield, Missouri, believes the bill is extreme and unlikely to pass the Legislature, suggesting it is part of a broader effort to incite hatred and violence against the LGBTQ community.
