Alan Dershowitz tells Newsmax: The Evidence Against Willis is Overwhelming
According to Harvard University Law School professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz, the evidence is overwhelming against Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who is accused of trying to pressure the judge into focusing on an appearance of conflict. Judge Scott McAfee, overseeing the Georgia election inference case involving former President Donald Trump and 18 co-defendants, will decide whether to remove Willis from the case due to her romantic relationship with top prosecutor Nathan Wade.
In a brief filed on Tuesday, Willis argued that previous Georgia cases have required proof of an actual conflict of interest to disqualify an elected district attorney, rather than just an appearance of conflict. However, Dershowitz believes there is substantial evidence of an actual conflict in this case, including a pre-existing affair between Willis and Wade and financial benefits received by Willis from this relationship.
Dershowitz suggests that there should be a criminal investigation of Fani Willis and the two witnesses involved. He believes that there is evidence of perjury, obstruction of justice, witness tampering, and conspiracy to commit perjury. If the judge decides to focus only on an appearance of conflict, Dershowitz argues that it would not be sufficient.
