Rep. Comer encourages Hunter Biden to participate and ‘be truthful’ at the hearing

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., is calling on Hunter Biden to attend an upcoming public hearing to address his father’s involvement in the family’s business dealings. Comer emphasized the importance of choosing between perpetuating “dishonesty” or being transparent with the American people.

In a letter sent to Biden’s attorney Abbe Lowell on Friday, Comer expressed his concerns and urged Hunter Biden to reconsider his decision to decline the committee’s invitation to the March 20 hearing.

Biden’s attorney had referred to the hearing as a “carnival side show” and “made-for-right-wing-media, circus act” in response to the invitation.

Comer pointed out that Hunter Biden initially refused to attend a closed-door deposition despite being subpoenaed, but later demanded a public hearing to answer questions in front of the American people. However, he reversed his decision after facing questions during the deposition.

Comer emphasized that Hunter Biden’s public testimony is essential for transparency and referred to his previous contradictory statements compared to those of his former business partners who are also invited to the March 20 hearing.

Despite Hunter Biden’s refusal to appear, Comer stated that the hearing will proceed with or without him, providing an opportunity for him to share his perspective alongside his close associates.

Comer concluded by highlighting the need for Hunter Biden to decide whether to continue perpetuating dishonesty to protect his father or be truthful with the American people. The Committee encourages Hunter Biden to participate in the hearing and allow the public to determine the credibility of his story.
