Rep. Bacon Criticizes Biden and Blinken for ‘Tone-Deaf’ Condolences to Iran, in Interview with Newsmax

Congressman Don Bacon criticized President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken for offering condolences to Iran following the tragic helicopter crash that resulted in the death of President Ebrahim Raisi earlier this month. Bacon called it “tone-deaf” and “appalling” during an interview on Newsmax Sunday.

He emphasized that Raisi was no friend to the United States, having targeted American troops and allies in the Middle East, along with oppressing those seeking freedom in Tehran. Bacon asserted that such actions communicate weakness to Iran and suggested the need for a stronger stance against the nation.

Regarding Iran’s future, Bacon expressed doubt that Raisi’s death would lead to any significant changes in the country’s policies, as long as figures like Ayatollah Ali Khamenei remain in power. He highlighted Iran’s ambitions to establish a Shia regional superpower and underscored the importance of standing united with Israel and Arab allies against these adversaries.

Bacon, who serves on the House Armed Services Committee, also discussed the recent defense bill, focusing on improvements for military personnel. He stressed the importance of supporting and empowering those who serve in the armed forces, despite recruitment challenges faced by the military.

Additionally, Bacon criticized the Biden administration for undermining military recruitment efforts through perceived weakness. He called for a more robust portrayal of the military’s role in defending freedom to attract recruits.
