Pam Bondi Tells Newsmax: Trump Gag Order is Unconstitutional and Will Likely be Overturned

Pam Bondi, the former Florida Attorney General, told Newsmax on Wednesday that the gag order imposed on former President Donald Trump in his Manhattan criminal trial should be overturned.

During an appearance on “Newsline,” Bondi stated that the only purpose of a gag order is to prevent the jury from being influenced.

“The jury has already reached their verdict,” Bondi commented. “They found him guilty. There is no valid reason for the gag order. He is unlikely to influence the judge, who has already expressed their stance on the case.”

In a recent filing, Trump requested that a judge lift the gag order imposed on him during the trial in New York, where he became the first convicted former U.S. president.

Judge Juan Merchan initially restricted Trump from publicly commenting on jurors, witnesses, prosecutors, and court staff. The order was later expanded to include both Trump’s family and the prosecutor’s family.

Trump violated the gag order on multiple occasions, resulting in a $10,000 fine and the threat of jail time for defying the judge’s ruling.

Bondi affirmed that the gag order is unconstitutional and predicted that it will be overturned.
