Urgent Question: How Will a Second Trump Assassination Attempt Impact the Election? | US News

According to Jack Nicklaus, one of the greats of the game, Donald Trump loves golf “more than he loves money.” Playing at least a couple of times a week and owning 16 courses across Florida to Aberdeen, Trump supposedly uses the fairways to escape the stresses of the campaign trail.

While visiting Trump International in West Palm Beach, the former president, who survived an assassination attempt just 64 days prior, was rushed to safety after shots were heard near the golf course. This latest incident raises concerns about his security, especially in such large and exposed places he frequents.

As the incident unfolds just weeks before the election, questions arise about the impact of another security breach on his polling numbers.

After messages were sent to his supporters following the incident at the golf course, Trump’s campaign team sees political opportunities to capitalize on the event, particularly with the tight competition against Kamala Harris in the polls.

The image of Trump defiant after being shot in Butler, Pennsylvania, may have initially boosted his support, but as the race progresses with Harris gaining ground, the outcome becomes unpredictable.

Unlike the previous incident in July, this assassination attempt is not as prominent in the current election narrative. Historical examples, like former President Gerald Ford’s experience, suggest that such attempts may not necessarily lead to lasting popularity or success in a reelection campaign.
