Trump’s Funding Freeze for Harvard: Letters

The Issue: Harvard University faces loss of federal funding after declining Trump’s demands to address antisemitism.

Goodbye, Harvard University: The federal government will withdraw all your federal support, impose heavy taxes on your endowment, and terminate all foreign funding (“Harvard rejects Trump’s demands,” April 15).

No student visas for foreigners will be issued. Disenchanted alumni will halt all financial contributions. Jewish families, who represent 20% of your student demographic, will redirect their tuition payments elsewhere.

Your institution may simply fade away, and you deserve nothing less.

The Issue: New York City imposes fines on buildings that fail to segregate food waste from regular trash.

What type of government inspects your garbage for food waste in order to impose fines (“Can the Compost Mandate,” Editorial, April 14)?

This composting mandate exemplifies the extent to which the left is willing to micromanage our actions, seeking more ways to extract money from us.

They are small-minded, power-hungry, and wish to diminish the quality of life for New Yorkers, showing complete disregard for us.

Leftists lack the intelligence and goodwill necessary to wield the power they crave.

I just received a notice about new composting regulations that all tenants must comply with, or the building manager will incur a fine. Who will be responsible for enforcing this rule?

Will I need to book an appointment with my superintendent to have my trash inspected and ensure compliance?

We already adhere to recycling rules for cans, bottles, plastics, and paper products.

Anyone on the City Council who approved this should be dismissed for their lack of common sense.
