According to Rasmussen Poll: Nearly Half Believe Democrats Could Replace Biden

Almost half of potential voters believe there is a chance that the Democratic Party will replace President Joe Biden as their nominee before the upcoming election in November, as indicated by a recent poll conducted by Rasmussen Reports. (source)

Based on the survey released on Monday (source), 47% of respondents, including 33% of Democrats, believe that there is a likelihood of Biden being replaced by the Democratic Party.

The poll also revealed that former first lady Michelle Obama is considered the top replacement choice among those surveyed.

Furthermore, 48% of Democrats surveyed indicated that they would either “somewhat” or “strongly approve” of Biden being replaced, consistent with the approval rate among likely voters. Only 38% of Democrats stated that they would not approve of this decision. Among Republicans, 45% expressed approval for replacing Biden.

Regarding potential replacements for Biden, 15% of likely voters, including 20% of Democrats, view Obama as a better presidential candidate than Biden. Vice President Kamala Harris came in second at 10%, followed by Hillary Clinton at 9%, California Gov. Gavin Newsom at 8%, and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer at 7%. The ranking of potential replacements was similar among Democrat voters, but with varying preferences.

Almost half of the respondents, 46%, believe that none of the mentioned candidates would be better than Biden.

Speculation regarding Biden’s position within the party has intensified following a critical report by special counsel Robert Hur, who described the president as “a sympathetic, well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory.”

The survey results coincided with Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo., filing a resolution urging Biden’s Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment to initiate the process of removing him from office.

Rasmussen conducted the survey with 960 likely voters from Feb. 18-20. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.
