On Friday, Secretary Brooke Rollins revealed that the grant focused on studying “menstrual cycles in transgender men” has been canceled.
“CANCELLED: $600,000 grant to study ‘menstrual cycles in transgender men,’” Rollins stated on her social media account on X.
“Keep sending us tips. THANK YOU, @approject! The insanity is ending and the restoration of America is underway,” she added.
Data from USAspending.gov indicates that the U.S. Department of Agriculture had allocated $600,000 to Southern University Agricultural & Mechanical College in Louisiana for the research project.
The report titled “Funding Insanity: Federal Spending on Gender Ideology under Biden-Harris” specifies that the university intended to study “menstrual cycles in ‘Transgender Men And Individuals Identifying With Masculine Genders, Intersex, And Non-Binary Persons.’”
“Menstruation typically begins around the age of 12 and ceases with menopause at about 51 years of age,” the grant description states. “A woman may experience approximately 40 years of menstrual cycles, averaging about 450 periods during her lifetime.”
“It is essential to acknowledge that transgender men and individuals with masculine identities, intersex people, and non-binary individuals may also experience menstruation,” the description continues. “At any given time, around 26% of the global population is menstruating.”
The purpose of the study was to “address increasing concerns” regarding menstruation, including the potential incorporation of natural materials such as hemp in feminine hygiene products.
The grant was anticipated to extend until April 2027.
The conservative organization American Principles Project initially unveiled the findings, identifying over 340 federal grants issued during the Biden administration to a variety of institutions, which amount to more than $128 million in federal funding.
