Biden Opposes UAW Strike, Stresses the Need for Shared Profits with Workers
President Joe Biden stated on Friday that while no one desires a strike within the labor dispute between the United Auto Workers (UAW) union and the big three U.S. automakers, workers should receive a portion of the profits being made by those companies.
“Though nobody wants a strike, I fully support the workers’ right to avail themselves of the options provided by the collective bargaining system,” Biden commented during a White House press briefing.
“I empathize with the workers’ frustration,” he acknowledged. “The significant corporate profits being achieved… should result in substantial contracts for the UAW.”
