Binnall Accuses Judge in Trump’s N.Y. Case of Attempting to Sabotage 2024 Election on Newsmax

The attorney for Donald Trump, Jesse Binnall, accused the judge in his legal expense trial of trying to bypass the unanimity requirement in order to convict the former president, remove him from the campaign trail, and potentially influence the 2024 presidential election.

“What I found particularly concerning today was how [Judge Juan Merchan] instructed the jury, and the fact that he is not allowing the jury to bring the instructions back into the deliberation room, which I believe is unfortunate,” Binnall shared with Newsmax‘s “Newsline.”

The jury in the New York trial concluded its first day of deliberations without reaching a verdict but requested to review crucial testimony related to attorney Michael Cohen’s payment of $130,000 to Stormy Daniels, which is central to the case.

Binnall went on to criticize the judge for deviating from the traditional requirement of unanimity among jurors for a conviction, indicating that the judge is seeking a way to avoid this requirement and showing bias against Trump.

Trump faces 34 counts related to his company falsifying business records in connection with Cohen’s efforts to suppress damaging information during the 2016 election campaign. Merchan instructed the jury that they must unanimously agree that Trump had knowledge and intent to create fraudulent entries in his company’s records for a conviction on any charge.
