Charges Against Trump Dismissed by Georgia Judge
The judge overseeing the Georgia election interference case has dismissed some of the charges against former President Donald Trump, but others remain.
In an order issued on Wednesday, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee ruled that six charges in the indictment, including three against Trump, must be quashed. However, the order also states that many other charges in the indictment will continue, and prosecutors have the option to seek a new indictment on the charges that were dismissed.
The charges that were dismissed relate to allegations of soliciting elected officials to violate their oaths of office. This includes two charges stemming from a phone call Trump made to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, a fellow Republican, on Jan. 2, 2021.
