Congressman Waltz Tells Newsmax: Trump’s Meeting with Duda Demonstrates He is Not a Puppet for Putin

According to Rep. Mike Waltz, R-Fla., former President Donald Trump’s meeting with Poland President Andrzej Duda debunks the narrative that Trump is aligned with Russian President Vladimir Putin, especially since Duda is a strong supporter of Ukraine. The two leaders met at Trump Tower in New York for about 2 1/2 hours to discuss the Ukraine conflict and NATO defense spending.

Waltz highlighted the disparity in defense spending among NATO countries, noting that while some countries like Poland and the Baltics are contributing 3% to 4% of their GDP, others like Germany and France are falling short of the 2% requirement. He intends to introduce legislation that will mandate the president to certify that every NATO nation is meeting the 2% defense spending threshold.

Despite NATO data showing that only 11 out of 30 member states are meeting the 2% threshold, Waltz emphasized the need for accountability. He stressed that if NATO countries are not contributing their fair share towards defense, then the US should reconsider its support for Ukraine.
