Congresswoman Tlaib Spent $435,000 on Services from Anti-Israel Company

According to the Washington Examiner, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., has paid $435,000 to a consulting firm led by an anti-Israeli activist.

The firm, Unbought Power, was hired by Tlaib’s campaign for “fundraising consulting” starting in 2020. The company is led by Rasha Mubarak, who has connections to organizations associated with terrorism, the Examiner stated. Tlaib is the only lawmaker of Palestinian descent.

Previously, Mubarak denied Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorism. She is linked to groups like the Alliance for Global Justice, which support the boycott, divestment, and sanctions movement against Israel, advocating for an academic and cultural boycott of the country.

Mubarak also has ties to the Council on American-Islamic Relations and has expressed controversial views regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Tlaib faced backlash for using a chant that some interpret as calling for the elimination of Israel and was censured by her colleagues in the House for it. She defended the chant as aspirational for freedom and peace.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., and the White House have criticized Tlaib for her rhetoric. Additionally, Tlaib voted “present” on a resolution condemning rape and sexual violence committed by Hamas, citing the lack of acknowledgment of similar acts by the Israeli Defense Force.
