Democratic Senators and Super PAC to Launch $300M Advertising Campaign to Retain Control of Majority
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) and a key party super PAC are preparing to spend over $300 million in the near future to support Democrats in holding onto their Senate majority.
Currently, Democrats have a slim 51-49 majority, but face challenges as Republicans are poised to potentially secure seats in West Virginia, Montana, Ohio, and Arizona. There are also competitive races in Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin for the GOP.
According to a report by Politico, the DSCC plans to allocate $79 million towards TV, radio, and digital advertising across nine states, while the Senate Majority super PAC intends to spend $239 million to protect the Democratic Senate majority.
Christie Roberts, the executive director of the DSCC, stated to Politico that their strategy is aimed at effectively communicating with voters and safeguarding the Democratic majority in the Senate.
Roberts also highlighted the shortcomings of Republican candidates, emphasizing their “disqualifying personal flaws and toxic policy positions.” The DSCC’s efforts include substantial TV ad buys in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, among other states.
The DSCC is also investing in radio ads in Montana and digital advertisements in several key states, including against notable Republican candidates like Ted Cruz and Rick Scott.
