Dick Morris to Newsmax: RFK Jr. a ‘Serious Threat’ to Biden

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who earlier this month announced his candidacy for the 2024 Democrat presidential nomination, is a “serious threat” to President Joe Biden, whose advisers are “forcing him into the ring” with an expected campaign announcement next week, political adviser and bestselling author Dick Morris said on Newsmax Saturday.

Kennedy’s appeal is “nonpolitical,” Morris said on Newsmax’s “Saturday Report.”

“He’s running, if anything, to the right of Biden, against all of this spending legislation.”

Kennedy, an environmental attorney, gained nationwide attention with his opposition to mandatory COVID vaccinations, particularly with children, said Morris.

“He cites the amazing fact that one out of every 1,000 vaccinations results in a serious adverse consequence [with] adults and an even higher number for children,” said Morris.

Kennedy’s stance on the environment may also attract voters away from Biden, particularly among younger Democrats, said Morris.

“He’s the guy that cleaned up the Hudson River,” said Morris. “He went up and down the river and sued every municipality to get along the way to have to upgrade their sewers. And he got them all upgraded, and now you can swim or fish in the Hudson. I wouldn’t do it, but you can. I think that that record would be very attractive, particularly to the young voters who are not voting for Biden.”

Kennedy is widely known as the son of a former New York senator, U.S. attorney general and assassinated 1968 presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy. He is also the nephew of the late President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in 1963, and the late longtime Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass, who died in 2009.

Biden’s polling numbers are also low, Morris pointed out.

“John McLaughlin, the pollster, does polls of Democratic primary voters and Republican primary voters,” said Morris. “With the possible candidates in the Republican primary. Donald Trump is in first place with 57% of the vote. In the Democratic primary, Joe Biden is also in first place, but with 23% of the vote. So he has very little support in his own party.”

The other three-quarters of the potential voters are going with people such as Sens. Amy Klobuchar or Cory Booker; Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, or Hillary Clinton, Morris added.

“Even Michelle Obama gets a lot of votes,” he said. “Biden absolutely is losing his hold on the nomination.”
