Ex-Congressman Ken Buck Refuses to Lie
Ken Buck, a Colorado Republican who stepped down from Congress earlier this year, shared his reflections on his time in office during an interview with Jon Stewart on “The Daily Show.”
After resigning from Colorado’s 4th Congressional District, Buck, who was elected in 2014, expressed that he has discovered there is more to life than “arguing about nothing and spreading misinformation.”
“I made the decision to leave because I could not continue promoting falsehoods,” Buck, who announced his resignation in March, explained. “The 2020 election was not stolen. The individuals involved in the events of January 6th are not political prisoners.”
The former Colorado congressman highlighted the issue of people receiving news from isolated sources nowadays.
“People are just reinforcing certain beliefs within their own information bubbles,” Buck noted. “I remember visiting a neighbor’s house the day after the 2020 election and noticing their flag displayed upside down.”
Buck expressed his hope for a unifying leader to emerge, likening them to a figure like John F. Kennedy.
“It’s my belief that there will be a leader who can bring the nation together, much like John F. Kennedy did during the Cold War era,” Buck stated. “There is someone out there who will help America heal and progress. I understand that person is not me.”
Buck indicated that neither former President Donald Trump nor current President Joe Biden fit the role he envisions for a unifying leader. Buck rejected Stewart’s assertion that he was a victim of “cancel culture.”
“I do not see myself as a victim,” he stated. “In fact, I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have six grandchildren.”
